GAIF 2012 to take place in Morocco

Next GAIF conference to be held two years from now in Morocco, event organisers reveal.
The 28th General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) conference in Jordan closed with the revelation that the 29th conference would take place in Morocco in 2012.
Over the next two years, Jawad Hadid, chairman of the Jordan Insurance Federation will serve as GAIF president. Hadid takes up the baton from Ashraf Bseisu, chairman of the Bahrain Insurance Association, who served as GAIF president for the last two years.
Held under the Patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein, the 28th GAIF conference took place by the calm waters of the Dead Sea between 17 – 20 May. Hosted by the Jordan Insurance Federation, the conference attracted over 1700 delegates who attended a series of workshops covering areas such as reinsurer diversification and marine cargo clauses.
GAIF secretary general Abdul Khaliq R Khalil called on Arab insurers to embrace higher standards and to strive to promote insurance to all sectors of the economy and society. He also revealed key industry initiatives underway including the development of the Arab Insurance Institute in Syria and the creation of a think-tank to collect data on the Arab insurance markets.
